Advertising and campaigns
Advertising campaigns: how to decide if it is time to invest
You launch a campaign, visitors or contacts arrive and yet you are not sure if the investment is helping the business or just adding work. The doubt is not usually whether advertising can give visibility, but whether your company is prepared to turn that attention into manageable conversations, requests or sales.
This article helps you decide whether advertising campaigns now fit your situation. When you finish you will be able to distinguish the favourable signals, the brakes that you need to solve before investing and the dependencies that you need to have under control.
Business decision: don't get attention before you define what should happen next
An advertising campaign makes sense when it seeks a specific action and the company can attend to it. That action may be to request information, book an appointment, ask for a quote, buy a product or download a resource. It does not need all the objectives to be equal, but it is observable.
Before choosing a channel, creativity or budget, it separates three issues:
| Layer Decision you must take | |
|---|---|
| Objective | What change do you want: more qualified requests, sales of a specific service, bookings or knowledge of an offer? |
| Scope | What parts do you need to support that goal: ad, destination page, form, content, tracking and measurement? |
| Solution Where will the campaign be displayed and with what tools will it be managed? |
This separation avoids a frequent error: treating the advertising platform as the main decision. An ad can take people to a page, but it does not correct a confused offer, a poorly posed form or a team with no ability to respond.
The useful question is not, therefore, “should we advertise?” but “what action do we want to provoke and what conditions must be met for such action to have value for business?”
Signals for activating advertising campaigns
Campaigns can be a reasonable decision if you recognize several of these situations.
You have a concrete offer to explain.
It is easier to build a message when you can specify what you offer, who and what the person concerned should do. A campaign to present a limited service is usually more manageable than a campaign that tries to explain the whole company to very different audiences.
You don't need to narrow your business down to one line, but choose a priority for each campaign. If you sell different services to customers with different needs, grouping them into a single message can make it vague.
You can answer the answers with a defined criterion
Generating contacts is not the same as managing them well. Before activating a campaign, decide who receives the requests, what information you need to respond to, and how a relevant query will differentiate from one that doesn't fit.
It is also important to anticipate what will happen when a person does not complete the form, leaves a phone or raises a question that requires human revision. Not everything must be automated, but the route must be responsible.
The destination of the campaign facilitates action
The destination page must continue the conversation initiated by the ad. If the ad promises a specific solution and the link leads to a generic page, you force the person to look again for what was of interest to him.
Check at least:
- if the main message matches the announcement;
- whether it is clear what you offer and for whom;
- if the following action is visible;
- if the form requests only the necessary information;
- if the subsequent confirmation indicates what will happen;
- if you can check that the requests reach the correct destination.
You're willing to review the campaign, not just publish it.
A campaign requires continuous decisions: what message to keep, what audience to adjust, what page to clarify or what information to ask for. If the only expectation is to activate it and not touch anything, the risk of prolonging a configuration that does not provide learning increases.
The review is not just about looking at a figure. It must relate advertising activity to the quality of the answers, the commercial capacity and the objective set.
Signs against: when to stop before
Postponing a campaign does not mean giving up advertising. It may mean that you first need to solve a dependency that will condition everything else.
You can't explain the offer without using vague terms.
Expressions such as "comprehensive solution", "personalised service" or "maximum quality" may be part of a message, but they are not enough for someone to understand what they will receive. If you still can't describe the problem you solve, the recipient and the next step, the campaign will amplify that ambiguity.
No person responsible for the consultations
If no one knows who responds, within what internal time frame or with what information, attracting more interest can generate disorder. In this case, it is advisable to order the basic business process first: reception, assignment, response and follow-up.
Page or form not ready
An incomplete, slow to update or disconnect message prompts improvisation when the campaign is already active. Advertising may direct attention to a page, but does not replace a clear content structure or functional contact path.
You need guaranteed results to justify the decision
No campaign eliminates commercial uncertainty. It influences the offer, the message, the public, the subsequent route, the competition for attention and the way opportunities are handled. If the decision depends on a prior guarantee, it is preferable to review expectations and evaluation criteria before investing.
Costs and Dependencies to Separate
Valuing a campaign only for the amount intended to display ads leaves out decisions that can change its scope. Without entering into figures, it is appropriate to separate these items and responsibilities.
Preparation. Includes defining goal, audience, proposal, messages, creative pieces and review criteria. If the offer requires internal validation, that coordination is also part of the job.
Destination and content. You may need to create or adjust a page, write texts, prepare images, video or other materials, and configure forms or calls to action. Advertising content is not an accessory: it must clearly explain what the ad starts. You can know the AVSISTEC advertising content service if you need to work that part of the tour.
Direct investment. This is the amount that is allocated to the platform or support where the campaign is displayed.It should be distinguished from the work of strategy, creation and management, because they respond to different concepts.
Measurement and management. You need to decide which signals to check and who will. Measuring a submitted request, a reservation or a purchase requires that the route is defined and that the data collected is understandable to the decision maker.
Post-campaign operations. The campaign depends on whether you can respond, budget, deliver the service or manage orders.This dependency is usually more relevant than the ad when the query volume grows.
Tools and third-party accounts. Platforms, forms, analytics systems, mail or contact management can introduce conditions of use, renewals, accesses and changes external to your company. Define who owns the accounts and who maintains the accesses before relying on them.
Matrix to decide whether to move forward, prepare or postpone
Use this matrix as an internal valuation. It does not substitute for the revision of your offer or validation of the specific conditions of each channel.
| Criteria Ready to advance | It is appropriate to prepare before | Signal to postpone | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Objective | There is a clear main action | There are several objectives, but you can prioritize one | You just look for "more visibility" without any subsequent criteria |
| Offer You can explain recipient, problem and proposal | Some messages or approvals are missing | Offer changes continuously or is not defined | |
| Destination Page Continues the message and allows | to act Requires content settings or | Form No useful destination for the | |
| Commercial Attention | There is responsible and response process | You must order the assignment or tracking | No one can assume the queries |
| Measurement You know what to review and how to interpret it | You must configure or clarify | criteria You cannot distinguish activity from useful results | |
| Operating Capacity | You can meet additional demand | You must adjust schedule, stock or coordination | An increased demand would generate non-compliance or |
If the ‘ready to move’ boxes predominate, a campaign may be a reasonable commercial test. If the ‘prepared’ ones predominate, it defines this previous work as part of the decision, not a minor detail. If several signs of postponement appear, invest in ordering the route first.
Conditioned recommendation
It activates advertising campaigns when you have a concrete offer, a main action, a coherent destination and the ability to manage what comes. In that scenario, advertising can serve to test a message and bring people closer to a defined commercial conversation.
If any of these bases are missing, start with the piece that blocks the route: clarify the proposal, build a useful page, improve the form or set the process of attention. It will be a more valuable preparation than speeding up the dissemination of a message that is not yet ready.
If your question is whether the content, destination page and contact action support the campaign you want to raise, you can explain your project to AVSISTEC to assess what scope would make sense to define before activating it.
